Scarily Good Halloween Tips to Save You Money

Whilst Halloween is a big event over in America, it has never quite had the same impact here in the UK, however recently, the celebrations have ramped up and people all over the country are taking part in the spooky traditions!

We’ve pulled together 5 of our top tips to help you celebrate Halloween, but on a budget.

Creepy Costumes

Our first suggestion would be to jump into the archives and see if you’ve got any outfits from previous years lying around. You’d be surprised how many different DIYs are out there to switch things up. A simple search on Pinterest will help you find all kinds of arts and crafts to turn your witch’s cloak into a spider costume!

Creating an outfit is also a great opportunity to head to your local charity shops and let your imagination run wild. You might find a ready-made outfit, or you might get a few items to throw together to create something spooky!

Disturbing Decorations

It’s very easy to go a bit over the top when it comes to decorating your house for different events, however, there are so many ways to create your own, purchase secondhand or even get them for free!

Again, Pinterest is a great tool to use to find out how you can get crafty with bits of pieces you may have lying around the house, such as creating tombstones from cardboard boxes! It’s also worth checking out Facebook Marketplace as others will most likely be selling or giving away last year’s decorations to make room for this year’s!

Terrifying Treats

Sweets and chocolates are some of the first things you think of when Halloween comes to mind, and there often seems to be a culture amongst communities to be the most creative and give the best snacks.

For this, we suggest checking our supermarket comparison sites to see which ones are doing the best deals. In addition, it’s worth looking at stores such as B&M, Home Bargains, The Range and more. More often than not, they have even better deals than your favourite supermarkets.

Menacing Movies

Trick or Treating is a novelty that might be wearing off as people become more aware of the dangers that may arise when you’re out in the dark. If this is something that concerns you, why not turn your child’s Halloween night into a Halloween Party?

Find their favourite age-appropriate spooky film, invite their friends around, bake some cookies and host their first Menacing Movie night! It’ll allow them to create memories to last a lifetime, and they’ll be safe in the comfort of your own home.

Preparations

If Halloween is an event you think you’d like to celebrate for years to come, it is worth putting a small pot of money aside so you can pick up some bargains in the post-Halloween sales! Stores are looking to make room for all the Christmas paraphernalia, so will be cutting down the prices of their costumes & decorations by quite a significant amount.
